Business Reporter, Real Estate (Temporary)
The Seattle Times, a family-owned news organization and one of the nation’s premier regional news sources, is looking for an experienced real estate reporter to temporarily join our Pulitzer Prize-winning newsroom’s business desk. The length of this job is from 8 to 10 months, starting as early as Aug. 1, and it is unlikely to be extended. It is a unique opportunity to cover the high-profile real estate beat for The Seattle Times.
The successful candidate will cover critical areas, including housing affordability, home sales trends, rental challenges and mortgage finance. Keeping tabs on the changing landscape of policies and public funding is key to our real estate coverage.
You will be a key player in our daily coverage online and in print. You can expect to juggle breaking news and dailies with enterprise pieces.

- Seek out and act quickly on story opportunities on all platforms.
- Ensure diversity in coverage.
- Work collaboratively with various teams in the newsroom.
- Produce compelling reporting about people and businesses involved in local real estate.
- Navigate digital readership trends based on analytics.
