We are seeking a Content Studio Editor to oversee the creation, management, and editing of high-quality content for The Seattle Times Content Studio. This role involves writing, editing, and producing various content types, including branded articles, organic social media calendars, blog posts, and white papers. The Content Studio Editor works closely with clients, freelancers, and internal teams to ensure all content meets the highest editorial standards while aligning with client and organizational goals.

 

Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Editing:

  • Write 3-6 branded content pieces per month, ensuring alignment with client objectives and The Seattle Times standards.
  • Edit and proofread branded content articles, blog posts, and other written materials submitted by freelancers or team members.
  • Develop and maintain content guidelines to ensure quality and consistency across all projects.

Content Management and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with a network of freelance writers, designers, and videographers, assigning work and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.
  • Work closely with clients and the sales team to develop content concepts that meet client goals and align with The Seattle Times style and voice.
  • Manage the flow of content production, including tracking drafts, edits, and final approvals.

Organic Social Media and Digital Content:

  • Draft and manage organic social content calendars, ensuring alignment with overarching marketing strategies.
  • Create engaging social copy that promotes branded content across The Seattle Times’ platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure social and digital content meets performance goals and engages target audiences.

Strategic Contributions:

  • Participate in client meetings to provide editorial insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor content performance using analytics tools, offering data-driven insights to improve strategies and outcomes.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and competitors to enhance content offerings and discover new opportunities.

Administrative Duties:

  • Oversee production schedules and deadlines, maintaining effective communication with internal teams and stakeholders. Keep updated status and detailed notes in Basecamp on all projects, ensuring seamless communication and organization.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in content creation, editing, or related roles, preferably in branded content.
  • Familiarity with AP style, ensuring adherence to established editorial standards.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience managing content calendars and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and tools like Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with SEO, social media best practices, and digital analytics tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and brand building.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

 

Work Location: This is a hybrid role requiring some work in our Seattle office each month. Actual days may vary.

 

Compensation: The full salary range for this position is $55,200 to $75,900. We typically pay between $55,200 to $69,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, this position is eligible for an at-goal annual bonus of $6,000.
