The Seattle Times, the Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper, is actively seeking a temporary Sports News Assistant in our newsroom. This part-time, hourly role is directly responsible for the presentation and packaging of all the agate in the Sports section, which generally includes box scores, standings, schedules and all the content in the Fanfare section. Additionally, the Sports News Assistant is responsible for answering the Sports department’s main phone line, and for compiling, editing and updating our TV and radio listings in print and online. Successful candidates should be comfortable collaborating with editors and print designers while compiling, editing, and presenting the content in the Sports section and online.
Note: this temporary role is projected to last six months, dependent on business need and employee availability.
This role is part-time and temporary. Must be available to work 20 hours per week, with an irregular weekly schedule. Standard hours run from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. but is subject to change.
